Saint Martin (French: Saint-Martin; Dutch: Sint Maarten) is situated at the northern end of the Leeward Island chain in the northeast Caribbean.
Fact: With an area of only 87 square kilometers (34 square miles), it has the distinction of being the smallest inhabited island that is divided between two nations.
The northern portion, Saint-Martin, which occupies about 60% of the island, is an overseas collectivity (collectivité d’outre-mer or COM) of France, and the European Community
The Southern portion, Sint Maarten, which occupies the remaining 40% of the island, is one of four countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands. While Sint Maarten has its own parliament and enjoys a certain degree of autonomy from the central government in the Netherlands it remains dependent on the Netherlands for matters like foreign policy and defense. Prior to 2010 Sint Maarten had been part of the Netherlands Antilles.

We are excited to announce our renovation project for the summer and fall of 2024. The surrounding pool area will be rebuilt with a full-access elevator to create a beautiful new pool bar and catering venue with a modern yet natural design to enhance the overall guest experience. For more details, our construction video is available here
The project will take place from July to December 2024, and to better gauge the extent of the progress, we’ve broken it down into three periods:
– Red Period: Demolition / Construction – July 8 through October 15, 2024
– Orange Period: Construction – October 16 through November 15, 2024
– Green Period: Completion – November 16 through December 18, 2024
There will be no renovations taking place in the rooms, but due to the location of the construction site, the overall experience will be affected. We understand that this will be an inconvenience to our guests and are offering a range of comprehensive specials for each period, for the affected room categories. Ocean Two Bedroom, being the farthest away, will have little to no disturbance and will therefore not be included in the offers.
The pool will be closed until the demolition is complete and it is considered safe to reopen.
The Sunset Café has been relocated to the garden area and will now be open every day as follows:
Breakfast – 7:30 am to 10:30 am
Lunch – 11:30 am to 4 pm
Tapas – 4 pm to 6 pm
To allow our guests to take full advantage of our amenities and enjoy the beautiful boardwalk despite the construction, a passage has been kept clear to walk around the Rock from one beach to the other. Access to the watersports will be from there as well or through the Sunset Cafe.
The gym has also been relocated to the Zen Garden area, where the complimentary yoga classes will be held.
Please understand that this is the timeline we hope to follow, but as with any construction project, these dates are subject to change.
Our guest experience remains a priority and we will strive to ensure your comfort during this time.
